Learning with Professor ChatGPT
Every day I wake up more excited than the last.
No, really—I’ve got Professor ChatGPT drilling me on data concepts like I’m in a quirky one-person bootcamp. Together, we’re turning every CompTIA Data+ exam objective into a real-world scenario, complete with pop quizzes, flashcards, and “aha!” moments.
But this isn’t just test prep. It’s a journey toward real-world skill.
Right now, I’ve customized ChatGPT to act as my study partner—quizzing me on real-world scenarios from the CompTIA Data+ exam, one objective at a time. It’s not just repetition. It’s reinforcement.
I’m building muscle memory. Mental pathways. Confidence.
Each quiz reflects real problems data professionals might face—so I’m not just checking boxes on a test. I’m learning how to think like an analyst.
Why This Matters 🤔
Most courses (especially certification ones) focus heavily on memorization. And don’t get me wrong—some memorization is necessary. But what happens when you pass the test and then freeze at your first real dashboard request?
I don’t want that.
I want to feel ready, like I understand why I’m choosing a line chart over a bar chart, or how to explain standard deviation to someone who’s never heard of it. I want to be able to clean messy spreadsheets without panic. I want the tools to translate data into clarity.
And that takes more than flashcards.
How I’m Doing It
I mapped out each section of the Data+ exam (CompTIA Objectives)
I use ChatGPT to generate scenario-based questions for each objective
I review, reflect, and write mini-explanations for my answers—even the wrong ones
I keep a running notebook of my “aha” moments so I can track my growth
This is part of my active learning strategy, and it’s changed everything. I made sure to tell ChatGPT to tell me when I’m wrong and instead of just giving me the right answers or coddling me, granted it’s still nice about it (which honestly I appreciate). I get asked if I want to review it again. So I get new questions based on the wrong answer but with some other questions alongside it. We go over why I got it wrong and what I might be missing, such as …reading comprehension. Yes, ChatGPT makes questions to throw me off sometimes with language just like the CompTia test would do. This way I am reading to understand the problem, not just jumping to conclusions based on some keywords. This has made learning more fun and interactive for me and makes me honestly excited to get home from work to study, even when I’m mentally drained from the work day.
